PitchPulse ratings and card rarities explained
Rarity is a presentation and collection layer built around an original historical-fantasy rating scale.
The important disclaimer
PitchPulse ratings are not official EA SPORTS FC, FIFA, club, league or federation ratings. They are fictional gameplay values inspired by selected historical performances. Two players from different eras cannot be reduced to one objective number, so the scale is designed for game balance and card collection rather than historical proof.
The rarity ladder
| Rating | Rarity | Game meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 80–90 | Common | Useful squad depth and ordinary historical cards |
| 90–95 | Rare | Strong cards that can solve many draft positions |
| 95–99 | Epic | High-end historical performances |
| 100–104 | Mystery | Elite cards with distinctive peak-era value |
| 105–109 | Legendary | Major historical stars and standout peaks |
| 110–114 | Icon | The strongest regular historical tier |
| 115 | Ultra Icon | The top of the PitchPulse fantasy scale |
Attributes matter
The overall rating is a summary. Pace, shooting, passing, defence and stamina describe different strengths. A goalkeeper or centre-back should not be judged by the same attribute pattern as a winger. Position compatibility therefore matters alongside the overall number.
Why the same name can appear in different eras
PitchPulse cards represent eras rather than a single permanent version of a player. A player's club card and national-team card can reflect different contexts. The game can therefore use different source, year, positions or attributes for the same footballer.
Rarity does not replace squad building
An Icon card is powerful, but it can still be the wrong draft choice if the XI already has that position covered. The purpose of rarity is to make reveals exciting while preserving the strategy of building a complete team.
Visual effects
Higher rarities use stronger borders, glows and reveal animations. Those visual differences are decorative game feedback. They do not indicate an official football award or licensed card category.
