How to build a stronger PitchPulse squad
A high overall rating helps, but a finished, balanced XI is usually more useful than a collection of stars who do not fit.
Begin with the formation
The formation is your shopping list. Before the first roll, count how many centre-backs, full-backs, central midfielders and wide attackers you need. Narrow formations reduce the need for wingers but can create more competition for central positions. Wide formations create the opposite problem.
Prioritize scarce positions
Early in a draft, it is tempting to select the most famous forward in every reveal. That approach can leave the final squad without a goalkeeper or natural defenders. A practical strategy is to secure one goalkeeper, the required centre-backs and at least one player for each full-back slot before spending heavily on duplicate attackers.
Use versatility as insurance
Cards with several compatible positions protect the draft from bad luck. A defender who can play both centre-back and full-back, or a midfielder who can cover CM and CDM, keeps more future slots open. Versatility becomes especially valuable when the bench starts filling.
Rating versus fit
Do not treat rating as the only decision. Look at the card attributes and the role you need. A 96-rated defensive midfielder with excellent defence and stamina can improve a lineup more than a 103-rated attacking midfielder if the squad already has several creators.
Manage the coin curve
Normal rolls are cheaper than targeted position rolls, while market purchases can cost much more. Use normal rolls when several positions are still open. Save targeted rolls for a specific missing slot and market purchases for repairing an obvious weakness late in the build.
Bench construction
A useful bench covers different problems. One versatile defender, one midfielder and one forward give more tactical options than three players who all perform the same job. The bench also gives you somewhere to keep a strong card when the natural XI position is temporarily occupied.
Captain and chemistry
Chemistry is a separate resource from rating. When two similar cards are available, links to existing players can be the deciding factor. The captain bonus and shared relationships can make the whole XI more effective in tournament simulations.
A simple draft checklist
| Stage | Priority |
|---|---|
| Early | Secure scarce defensive positions and a goalkeeper |
| Middle | Improve chemistry and add versatile coverage |
| Late | Use targeted rolls or Market purchases to repair gaps |
| Before tournament | Review XI, bench, captain, chemistry and tactics |
